We were delighted to welcome more than 30 delegates to our annual global conference at the Novotel Tower Bridge in London on 11 & 12 May 2023.

A number of us met the previous day to visit the prestigious Accountex exhibition in the Docklands area of London. Those that came enjoyed various seminars around the venue and also visits the over one hundred exhibitors present. Whilst many exhibitors were aimed at the UK market, many were of interest to Kudos members. As can be seen below, there were numerous photo opportunities too!

The conference real started with a session from Alun Morgan updating members on developments within Kudos. This centred on the efforts to expand the network, and noting increased success in recruiting new members and achieving the goal of 50 Kudos members!

Some of the new initiatives such as the New and Potential Partner training material and the Kudos Open House meetings were discussed. We then had a very informative session on cyber security from Mark Flynn. Mark was honest enough to share his own tale of being the subject of cybercrime, but crucially emphasised the importance of staff training and being alert as the main defence to keep data secure.

After lunch there was highlight of the conference as we adjourned to the ‘Escape Rooms’ tpo show how we would adapt into teams. All attendees seemed to love this activity albeit no one escaped from the room in the target time of 60 minutes. However, a few minutes later the victorious team of Damien Barrow, Roland Parry, Joffin Thomas, Alex Margishvili & Edmundo Vera emerged from their room.

In the evening we had a wonderful dinner at Chartered Accountants Hall.

Kudos Georgia were honoured with the first ‘Kudos firm of the Year award’ in recognition of their outstanding work in the promotion of the Kudos Brand.

The following firms were also acknowledged with certificate for achieving 10 years of membership:

Curtin O’Friel

Butterfield Morgan

Savvides Audit

Aegis Group

To begin the second day we had a further team building exercise on examining how Kudos firms can increase referrals that they give and receive. This was an excellent session led superbly by Wyn Morgan. As a result of this certain actions will now take place, including the creation of a network skills database. We anticipate this being live by the end of the year. Mark Lloybottom then gave two excellent presentations on outstanding client service and delivering additional services to clients. We are working with Mark to enable those who could not attend to be able to access this material.

Finally, we were delighted with a presentation on the art of communication by Henry Waddilove. Henry delivered a thought provoking piece on communication strategies given his extensive expertise in this area.

Most importantly of all of course what those who attend got out of the conference was the ability to network with colleagues and get to know the many new faces. Thank you so much from Rebecca and Alun to those of you who took time to attend.
